Curl with Us
Anyone is welcome to curl with us. Whether you’re an experienced curler or a first-timer, we are a friendly club that can offer you everything from a competitive game as easily to coaching and equipment for the beginner. Below are answers to the most common questions but feel free to get in touch if you have more questions.
Where do we play?
We do not have a regular venue but many of our members play at the only curling rink in England, on Dundale Farm, near Tunbridge Wells, Kent. For more information on the rink itself, please see Fenton’s Rink.
Members are often found playing in weekend competitions in Scotland or Europe and if you are interested in finding a team to play in then please contact us
How do I get to Fenton’s Rink?
You can drive or you can take the train – take the train to Tonbridge (NOT Tunbridge Wells!), which is 30-40 minutes from London Bridge or Charing Cross stations. If we know you are coming and when then we can usually get somebody to pick you up at the station as they pass.
When are the games?
The Rink organises games every Tuesday and Wednesday night from October until about April. Games start at 8pm and are 2 hours long.
How much does it cost?
Games are £13/night for members and shoe hire is £2 if required. You will have to join the rink at a cost of £15 per year. There are a number of subscription options for the London Club (£10 – £30) depending on what you want to do during the season.
Do I need any experience?
No. We are very welcoming to new curlers. Several of our members are trained coaches who can teach you the basics of the game before we start playing. It’s also possible to practice at no extra charge before or after the game.
What should I wear if I have not played before?
You will want to wear comfortable, flexible clothing—track suits and fleeces are popular choices. Layers are good as well. Special shoes (£2 to hire) and brooms (free) are available at the rink.
What if I can’t curl on weekday nights?
There is some weekend curling available on certain Saturdays throughout the season. Get in touch to see when the next Saturday session will take place.
